Sylvan, 2016

Wood,  84” x 36” x 16” installed

Sylvan is a body of experiments investigating possibilities.  The work was driven by a belief that the material life of a tree trunk can continue to grow despite it being found abandoned.  To explore the iterations of a tree, the trunk was cut, the bark saved, the knobs shaved into wood chips and the sawdust made into paper.  As an installation,  Sylvan is a contemplative space to reflect on the vast possibilities of materials at every stage of their life.
