Forming of Fuji-san, 2020

Black hot glue on drop sheet, 8' x 12'

The Forming of Fuji-san is a response to an artist-in-residency in Japan in the area of Fujiyoshida. The drawing considers the locale's historically famous and still prominent textile industry and borrows from the aesthetics of traditional embroidery.  The work explores the geological formation of the multiple Mount Fujis and is inspired from the painterly movements of Japanese ink brushes.
