CONTACT ME

My artistic practice questions how material can mediate meaning. I am interested in how recontextualizing a material can make it both a physical property and a series of relations to space. My large-scale work makes the body a material constituent in my sculptural installations by influencing how viewers perceive and navigate space. My attention to how materials can rearrange and transform space manifests itself in site-specific installations. Subverting the static nature of sculpture, my art practice examines the potential for material to shift in form and function. My sculptures and installations are often in flux and challenge what it means to be in the past, present and future.

In the studio, my projects often start with a fascination for a material and continue as experiments traversing the space between perception and knowledge. In the making process, I negotiate with each material’s inherent properties and allow for moments of contingency to speculate on the vast possibilities for material manipulation. Like my practice, my material research is a series of divergent experiments revealing the many ways to synthesize material manipulation, spatial arrangements and context.
